Townships may include only one municipality, or parts of several (see above municipality descriptions). The county's unincorporated areas receive services from the township as well as the county (in some cases), and possibly from a municipality. Some unincorporated areas receive emergency services from one municipality, are in another's school district, and may pay the county for sewer and water. Individual tax bills define governing service providers and how the entire amount is distributed to each entity.
Within each county, the various communities have their own character and personality. What's most important? Proximity to I94, shopping, and amenities? Or is a rural feel, a quaint downtown, or are medical facilities most critical? You may find that perfect home before investigating the town.
